Behind the Seams with Carina Ramirez Cahan: Creating a Luxury Lingerie Line

About this episode

Unravel the mystery behind creating a luxury lingerie brand with our guest, Carina Ramirez Cahan, the brain behind the Cobalt Rose Company. Discover how Carina, initially dabbling in international trade relations, found her niche by identifying a market gap in the lingerie industry and how she used her husband’s physics background to create a prototype for a better bra. Hear her speak about how her brand is differentiating itself in the marketplace, while ensuring her garments are made to suit the natural body.

Follow Carina's journey into the world of luxury lingerie, where she initially focused on creating high-quality products with a higher price point. Learn about her strategy of using luxury materials like Italian fabrics and French hardware, and how she figured out the sweet spot of maintaining quality while bringing down the price point. And it doesn’t stop at that. Carina also wanted to cater to a wider audience, so she explored different styles and sizes. Hear about the power of PR and how a magazine spread catapulted her brand's reach and connected with her audience.

Merely having a great idea isn't enough, turning it into a successful venture is where the challenge lies. Carina talks about her experience of filing patents in multiple countries, the importance of knowing the industry lingo, and how she used resources like the New York Public Library's business library to get ahead. Join us as we discuss the realities of being an entrepreneur and the importance of perseverance. Carina's journey is filled with hurdles, but she leaves us with a strong note - believe in yourself and be authentic. Tune in for a truly inspirational story!
