Life on the Beat and Beyond: Hilarious Tales and Lessons from NYPD Detective Turned Author Vic Ferrari

About this episode

What happens when a retired NYPD detective turns author, recounting hilarious and jaw-dropping stories from his days on the force? We found out in this entertaining episode, as we were joined by Vic Ferrari, a 20-year veteran of the NYPD and now a successful writer. Vic gave us insight into his journey from being fascinated by law enforcement as a young child to turning his experiences into engaging and often humorous books.

Vic shared some unforgettable tales from his time as a cop in New York City, including a man who moved a dead body to avoid working overtime and a cop who lost his gun in a stove, causing chaos in the neighborhood. We also delved into the world of self-publishing and the various elements that go into it, such as finding a good editor, formatting a manuscript for Amazon, and creating an audiobook version.

But it's not all laughs and badges; we explored Vic's latest book, Confessions of a Catholic High School Graduate, where he discusses his experience growing up in the Bronx in the 70s and 80s. We wrapped up our conversation by discussing Vic's life mantra of 'any day above ground is a good day' and the importance of taking that first step in writing your story. Get ready for a roller coaster of emotions and life lessons with our guest, Vic Ferrari!
